History of the TequilaThe history of the Tequila goes back to Hispanic times.
The old natives of Jalisco knew the plant the Blue Agave, which was very useful
for these settlers they used since it to make cords, paper, thread, needles,
ceilings of houses, apart from which his pencas was used to realise bonfires and
the ashes served like detergents or soap.
He says the legend that one night in which there was a great storm, the
jaliscienses natives had to take refuge in a cave. During the storm a ray fell
on mezcales, burning them during several hours. After the storm finished, the
wind I drag to where they were these natives, a very pleasant aroma, which
invited to go to see from where east scent came.
When arriving at the place they saw that the scent came from an agave that habia
burned, a one of present the volume piece of this plant and when proving it,
found a sweet flavor him shared thus it with the others, and thus discovered the
utility of this plant.
A day, an indigenous forgetfulness by several days the juice of this plant in
its hut, and when return was with a new aroma that surrounded all the place.
When seeing the drink, descover that the juice, they left small bubbles that
formed a white foam and thicken. The curiosity of to this I take it native to
prove the drink, finding a new and enriched flavor. Later it separated the foam
to be able to consume it.
This drink produced in the native a change of spirit and personality, for that
reason a gift of the Gods
is considered it. In the codices mexicas includes the representation of the
Mayahuel goddess, that with its 400 sines it fed equal number of children,
centzon-totochtin, employers of the intoxication.
Between the Aztecs this drink was only consumed by great jerarcas like the
priests, and only in great festivals.
The tequila we know as it at the moment is thanks to the Spaniards, to who the
old Aztecs offered to them to their arrival, a great feast with Tequila, since
they thought that Courteous Hernán was Quetzalcóatl.
The Spaniards when knowing the drink, wanted to apply the distillation process
that they either knew the Tequila and thus to secure one more a pure and strong
drink, thus obtaining what today we know like mezcal or aguardiente.
Over the years they went perfecting the techniques for the elaboration of the
Tequila, until arriving at which today we know.
And he is as well as, according to the legend gave rise to the Mexican
